It really can be quite an adventure when you are going on a trip, and part of this experience is where you are going to stay. You want this to be a pleasant experience, but at the same time you don’t want to spend a good portion of your budget just on your lodging.
You really can save some money by opting to use Bed and Breakfasts. There are a lot of advantages to choosing this as your accommodations but there are some limitations that come with it. The rules for staying at them are a little different than what you may be used to when staying at a Hotel.
The first thing you want to make sure of is that the B & B that you choose is going to be in close proximity to all of the venues and amenities that you are going to want to visit in the region where you are visiting. Otherwise you are going to have extra travel expenses like renting a vehicle.
The thing that you need to realize is that you are staying in much smaller quarters compared to other standard forms of accommodations. You may have to share some of the common space, like the living room, bathroom and kitchen. Larger B&B’s will provide separate bathroom facilities for individual guests.
When booking your Bed and Breakfast you need to inform your host if you have any food restrictions or allergies. Also, if you are handicapped in any way you need to inform the proprietors of this. It may be that you are required to use stairs to get to your sleeping quarters, and this could be an issue for you.
You also need to confirm what check in time is as well as check out, and if there any specific rules that you need to be aware of.
